Mike Beard, a Republican state representative from Minnesota, recently argued that coal mining should resume in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, in part because he believes God has created an earth that will provide unlimited natural resources.
“God is not capricious. He’s given us a creation that is dynamically stable,” Beard told MinnPost. “We are not going to run out of anything.”
Meanwhile, God is up in Heaven yelling, “I only gave you those coal deposits to tide you over until you realized you could make energy from the sun and the wind! Stop it! Just stop it!”
It’s especially interesting to note that, contrary to popular belief, inequalities in the system are actually increasing in many areas. This is very likely due to the fact that so many people believe that inequalities are no longer an issue, and therefore no longer need to be addressed (internalized prejudices are less likely to be brought to light).
Social inequalities are still a huge issue and need to be addressed every day, discussed, confronted, and fought against.
